You may choose to give your time, your talent, your experience, and your energy. Your financial gifts to Blue Ridge Literacy go directly toward helping adults to learn to read and write English. Since Blue Ridge Literacy was founded over 26 years ago, gifts from people like you have made it possible for us to grow into what we are today.

Tomorrow’s possibilities to serve the cause of literacy are limitless when you invest in Blue Ridge Literacy today!

Annual Support Campaign

Blue Ridge Literacy has a mission of helping adults and families reach their potential through the skills of reading and writing English. Literacy serves our learners personally, as well as building a stronger and more united local community and a more productive and effective workforce.

Every person who comes to us with the desire to develop literacy skills is welcomed, and becomes part of our very successful and focused program. Each year, through the annual gifts of hundreds of persons throughout the community, we are able to ensure that Blue Ridge Literacy can serve adults and families who need us the most.

Each fall and spring, Blue Ridge Literacy volunteers and staff contact persons and businesses throughout the community for their support of our work. Through your financial support, the Annual Support Campaign makes it possible for us to train and support tutors, to provide a wide range of resources and ongoing guidance, to offer a variety of classes (including college preparation, citizenship training, and job preparedness), and to raise literacy awareness throughout the region.

In the most recent fiscal year, BRL served over 350 adults and their families, with services estimated to value more than $225,000. Your gifts make that possible! Thanks for all you do to help the work of Literacy throughout the Blue Ridge region!

Leave A Legacy

Making a planned gift to Blue Ridge Literacy offers a flexible and simple way to combine philanthropy with financial planning. In fact, a planned gift may help you give more to Literacy than you thought possible, while still providing you or someone you designate with favorable financial and/or tax benefits. Planned gifts to BRL are about planning for the future—your future and the future of children and families. While each planned gift is unique, these gifts can offer significant benefits while ensuring that future generations will be served by Literacy.

Your dollars really do make a difference! For instance, a gift of $75 can pay for a year’s worth of learning materials for a learner, while a gift of $150 can cover a week of classroom teaching for a citizenship training program for ten learners.
