Digital Literacy

Blue Ridge Literacy is a Northstar Location.  We offer English and Digital Literacy Programs using the Northstar Digital Literacy curriculum.
Adult Learners can take a placement test at Blue Ridge Literacy to test their computer skills, build skills in key areas, and demonstrate their computer and digital literacy knowledge by earning certificates and badges.  Our program covers

Essential Software Skills
Using Technology in Daily Life

Class time and location
Beginner English and Digital Literacy Class
Mondays:  10:00 am - 12:00 pm in-person

Open Computer Lab
Thursdays:  12:00 pm - 1:30 pm

Classes take place at the BRL offices in the Downtown Library at 706 S. Jefferson St.

All learners must keep two appointments to register at BRL.  The only cost for BRL services is a one-time $30 registration fee.
Northstar classes have open enrollment.

How much does it cost?

There is a one-time $30 registration fee. A re-enrollment fee after the first session of ESOL classes is $10 per session.

Do you have class on the weekends?

We do not have classes on the weekends. If you are only able to study on the weekends, please see information about our tutoring program

Where are the Digital Literacy classes?

Classes take place in the BRL offices located in the Main Library in Downtown Roanoke.

How does enrollment work?

All BRL learners take a reading test before enrolling at BRL. Based on this score, you will be placed in the appropriate level of class.

What time is class?

Our Beginner Digital Literacy classes are Monday 10:00 am -12:00 pm and our Open Computer Lab is Thursday
