Internships
Blue Ridge Literacy internships offer the opportunity to work in a non-profit environment and develop tutoring and/or teaching skills; to create and implement projects that benefit adult literacy learners; to meet learners from different countries and gain concise language skills; and to develop professional skills needed in a fast-paced office environment. Interested applicants should have an interest in teaching, nonprofits, literacy, and other cultures. We accept up to two interns per semester for spring, summer, and fall.

Education Internship​

Instruct tutoring sessions and small-group classes with adult literacy learners

Create lessons and teaching material relevant to learners’ individual goals and needs

Provide support and outreach to current BRL literacy volunteers

Lead community and organizational events such as Sobremesa, Yoga Socials, Citizenship Celebrations, and the Annual Celebration

Assist Program Director with data entry, as needed
Qualifications: Interns should want to teach and tutor adult literacy learners or small groups; be excited about collaborative opportunities with other BRL teachers, staff, and volunteers; and interested in meeting new people who possess different life experiences.
